Dear 4th Middlesex District Residents:
I am a candidate for the 4th Middlesex District State Senate seat in the September 16th Democratic Primary Election.
While I realize that there are no set prerequisites for a candidate for State Senate, I believe that a lifetime of activism and a legacy of accomplishments uniquely qualify me to serve the citizens of Arlington, Billerica, Burlington, Lexington and Woburn.
I believe the first and most important duty of any State Senator is to work cooperatively with local officials to provide services and quality of life benefits to the cities and towns that he or she represents. I am proud to say, I have been doing that for the past twelve years as a member of the Arlington Board of Selectmen.
As a husband, a father of three children, a homeowner and a four term Selectman, I understand the priorities of our communities and the challenges our families face. Inadequate State Aid funding for education and core services, skyrocketing health care and energy costs, and the ever increasing disregard for our environment have adversely affected the quality of life of our citizens. It is my intention to aggressively address these and other important issues as your next State Senator.
Over the next two months, I look forward to meeting, talking, and most importantly listening to the residents of the 4th Middlesex District. I would be honored to represent Arlington, Burlington, Billerica, Lexington, and Woburn as your next State Senator and would appreciate your vote on September 16th.
Sincerely,
John W. Hurd
